When I noticed that I was developping cataracts last spring I started to look around for options to get them treated as soon as possible as I was no longer able to drive or work. I have high myopia and a history of retinal detachment. The surgery I had done 17 years ago to repair my retina is what caused me to develop cataracts at the age of 35.When I got into contact with Herzig I had a hunch that I had found the right place to get the issue fixed as fast as possible while benefiting from the best in terms of technology and expertise.Throughout my diagnostics and pre op testing, I was helped by many great people including one of the managers named Sophie who went above and beyond to get me last minute appointments with different specialists (I needed retinal pre-screening and additional ultrasounds done due to my history). She was always available to answer my questions and showing compassion while making sure everything was done correctly before I could be approved for my cataract surgery.I decided to go for the laser assisted cataract procedure because of its increased precision and also because I read that it could reduce the amount of trauma done to the eye which I thought would be good given my condition.Dr. Lewis is the one who performed my surgery. On the day of my procedure he came to meet me before getting started and was very upbeat, reassuring and kind. The pre/post op nurse, tech nurse and anesthesiologist also came to prepare me and were awesome people who took time to answer all of my questions. When we got started, I asked the anesthesiologist to only give me a very light dose of sedation because I was already feeling relaxed and at ease, he did as requested.The procedure was a breeze and virtually painless. It went by very quick and before I knew it I got up on my feet and walked to the post op area. After getting some instructions and sitting down for about 10 mins in the post op area, I was on my way home. I should point out that immediately after the procedure I was blown away by how well I could see.The next day I had a post-op appointment with Dr. Lewis and found out I now had 20/15 vision. This is the best I remember seeing in my whole life. So far recovery is painless.I am extremely grateful for the exceedingly good job the Herzig team has done for me and would recommend them to any of my family and friends. I will probably return to them for vision correction in my other eye soon.

I went in for cataract surgery on my left eye recently. Since I had the right eye done a few years ago (at a different clinic) I thought I knew what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! From initial consultation through surgery everyone at the clinic has been pleasant and amazingly efficient!Dr. Modabber gave me great advice to correct my left eye one diopter nearer. After surgery I was in the recovery room and I was stunned that I could read the text on my cell phone without glasses. I was fully expecting to be dependent on readers for most reading tasks. The vision through my left eye is so sharp and clear, not saying that my right eye isn't good, but the eye corrected at Herzig is above and beyond that.

One of the best decisions of my life. Smile procedure is for sure the best. No smell, no pain, less than 1 min per eye, flapless. Fast recovery. I had my surgery this morning and I cant be happier.About the institute, one of the best in North America. All the staff are knowledgeable and caring.Dr. Milad Modaber was my Surgeon and I am extremely happy about that. He explained the procedure perfectly before, during and after the surgery. During the surgery he walked me through all the steps one by one which made me feel relaxed. He kept reminding me everything is going well and Im doing great job. Actually he was the one doing the great job. Thanks Dr. Modaber, thanks Herzig team. You changed my life.
