Known for his precision, warmth, and results-driven care, Dr. Modabber is passionate about helping patients achieve their best possible vision and quality of life.
He is a double board-certified Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgeon, widely recognized as one of Toronto’s leading ophthalmologists. At the Herzig Eye Institute, he offers the full spectrum of advanced vision correction procedures—including SMILE, ICL, RLE, LASIK, PRK, corneal cross-linking, and refractive cataract surgery—personalized to each patient’s individual goals.
A dedicated educator and clinician, Dr. Modabber has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and has been invited to speak at leading international conferences. His research has earned numerous accolades, including the Best Paper of Session award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting.
With over 30 national and international awards to his name, Dr. Modabber is also a respected thought leader in the field. He has contributed to major ophthalmology textbooks such as Cornea and Keratoconus, and serves as a spokesperson for the Canadian Ophthalmological Society, frequently appearing on TV and radio to raise public awareness around eye health.
Driven by a deep commitment to global vision care, Dr. Modabber has led humanitarian surgical missions to restore sight in underserved communities across India, Kenya, Mongolia, Jordan, Costa Rica, and beyond. His efforts have been recognized with the ASCRS Young Eye Surgeon International Service Grant and the AAO Leadership Development Award.
Rooted in his hometown of Toronto, Dr. Modabber remains dedicated to giving back to the community that raised him. Outside of medicine, he enjoys time with his loving family, playing soccer and tennis, working on his golf game, and pursuing his passion for travel, photography, and deep-sea diving.
