Your lens is mostly made of water and protein. The protein is arranged in a precise way that keeps the lens clear and lets light pass through it. As we age, some of the protein may clump together and start to cloud a small area of the lens. This is a cataract, and over time, it may grow larger and cloud more of the lens, making it harder to see.
When can I return back to normal activities and drive after cataract surgery?
You are restricted from swimming in a pool or gardening for 2 weeks following your surgery. You may shower 1 day post-op with your back to the shower nozzle. Do not use eye makeup for 1 week following your procedure.
Answer driving question
What is the ORA™ System with VerifEye?
At Herzig Eye Institute we use the most advanced cataract technologies available including a cataract laser, premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) and the ORA system. The ORA System is used during the procedure to take measurements of the eye after the natural lens is removed. Real time data validation means the surgeon is able to make any necessary adjustments and refine the visual outcome. The goal is to provide patients with their personal best vision.
Will I be able to see immediately after cataract surgery?
You will see after the procedure but it will take anywhere from 2 days to 3 weeks for your vision to stabilize. It is not unusual to have blurry vision for a few days after your surgery as your eye is healing.
