Associate Surgeon

Dr. Salima Hassanaly is a board-certified, Fellowship trained Cornea, Anterior Segment, Cataract, and Refractive Surgeon with advanced training in Canada and the United States. She performs a full range of procedures at Herzig Eye Institute including ZEISS ReLEx SMILE, LASIK, PRK, Intraocular Collamer Lens (ICL), Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) and Refractive Cataract Surgery.

Dr. Hassanaly obtained a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, then a Doctorate in Medicine and an Ophthalmology Residency Specialization at the University of Montreal. She went on to complete a Cornea and External Diseases fellowship at the Illinois Eye Infirmary in Chicago and further honed her surgical and clinical skills during a second fellowship in Refractive Cornea and Cataract Surgery in Boston.

Following her specialized studies, Dr. Hassanaly practiced as a Cornea and Comprehensive Ophthalmologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a world-class teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, providing comprehensive eye care to thousands of patients. With a strong interest in Ophthalmic education, Dr. Hassanaly focused extra efforts on teaching medical students and ophthalmology trainees, in conjunction with her clinical duties.

Dr. Hassanaly is a dedicated surgeon who truly cares about her patients and is committed to providing compassionate, personalized, high-quality care to patients at Herzig Eye Institute. Dr. Hassanaly has always valued active citizenship and civic engagement. No matter where she lives, she always finds time for voluntary service in the community, with an ongoing desire to improve the quality of life of those in need.
