Fantastic service, with experienced and seasoned medical and support staff. Dr. Milad Modabber assessed my eyes, carried out my cataract surgery (with the toric IOLs), and followed up with me after the surgery. The results were phenomenal!

I want to take this opportunity to express gratitude to all staff at Herzig Eye Institute in Ottawa. My overall experience at Herzig was phenomenal.I had high myopia (-6D and -6.75D) and mild astigmatism (+1.0D). Throughout the pre-operative consultation with Dr. Baig, he was initially concerned about the weak cornea of my right eye and thus suggested I should go with ICL procedure. However, since my preferred option was SMILE, after being given some artificial teardrops, I passed the reassessment of candidacy for SMILE.I had my SMILE operation with Dr. Baig on June 3rd. The operation was virtually painless and took only 7-8 minutes. During the procedure, Dr. Baig explained everything about what he was doing, and there was music being played in the background to make me feel relaxed as well. Also, I would like to thank the two nurses who also assisted the operation on the day. After the operation, I was given a set of eye drops and proper instructions on how often I should use them.Visual acuity recovery takes time with SMILE procedure. On post-op day one checkup with Dr. Baig, my visual acuity was 20/15 and 20/20 for OS and OD, respectively, and I complained that I had some residual astigmatism in the right eye. However, a month after the operation, my visual acuity was fully recovered, and I got 20/15 for both eyes, which is excellent for me as Im a sports enthusiast.Bonus: As vision acuity is crucial for my sports career, I performed further visual acuity tests at home to check my limits. The results were terrific. I can see at 20/12.5 and 20/15, and with pinhole glasses, I can see some letters on 20/10 line.Again, Id like to particularly thank Dr. Baig for giving me a new vision, Dr. Noel and Dr. Nour for helping me with post-op checkups, and other staff at Herzig for offering impeccable service. Highly recommend Herzig for refractive surgery.

My cousin referred me to Herzig Eye Institute to get a consultation for laser eye surgery. I chose to get the SMILE procedure for both of my eyes and Dr. Modabber + team were very supportive and made my experience worthwhile. Thank you so much for restoring my eyesight!

So..this is looong overdue. In 2008, I went in for a consultation to see if I was a candidate for lasik, while waiting I was chatting with another patient they said they had lasik procedure done at another place ended up with double vision in one eye that Dr. Herzig was the only one willing to fix it. Well that made my decision....after the consult I booked my appt with Dr. Herzig himself. Been over 10 yrs since I did the PRK procedure and I have absolutely no regrets, other than why didnt do it sooner. My sister also did the procedure a few years later. As expected, with age, my lens are losing its elasticity so Im wearing reading glasses now...been about 2 yrs... hoping to visit Herzig in December to see if I can do the procedure again . No regrets!!

Over two days in February 2022 I had laser cataract surgery for both eyes at the Herzig Eye Institute in Toronto. The COVID-19 virus and its various variants were still going strong but the protocols put in place by the Institute made me feel quite safe to go ahead with the surgery.Beginning with my initial enquiries about what laser surgery entails, to the various tests determining if I was indeed a candidate for laser surgery, to being provided with detailed literature concerning the surgery and face-to-face discussions with Yasmin over the various options I had, what to expect during and after surgery - the good and the problematic - etc. I never felt pressured one way or the other. It was totally my decision to go ahead with what I decided was the best option for me.By the time surgery came I was ready. Each procedural step was fully explained before it was performed and I felt I was in truly capable, professional hands. The surgery itself was amazingly quick and I experienced no pain whatsoever during or after.I cannot be happier with the results and am free of corrective lenses for the first time since I was 13! On the very odd occasion I require reading glasses but those are very few and far between. So thank you to everyone at the Herzig Eye Institute for their care and expertise.Connie M.
