Dear Dr. Herzig,
It is not often, if at all, that I speak on behalf of a company. In the past, I have only endorsed golf club manufactures and related items. However, in March 2000, something happened. I was tired of switching from sun glasses to prescription glasses and replacing broken or lost glasses. On the advice of a fellow golf professional, I decided to have the L.A.S.I.K. eye procedure. I was told by many people that the best place is Herzig Eye Institute. However, I still did my research and phoned all the others and visited their websites.
I took the advice of the majority and decided to go Herzig. Any fears or concerns were distant memories after my first visit, before ever seeing a doctor. While waiting for my appointment, I could overhear everyone who was coming for their post-procedure check-ups bragging about how they could now read license plates and street signs, something I could never do without glasses. I booked the procedure for as early as I could get an appointment.
On the drive home, I read my first license plate without any glasses. My eyesight is now 20/20! After a few days, I went out to a driving range. Not to hit golf balls, but to watch them fly through the air with only a pair of regular sun glasses on.

For most of my life, I suffered from such severe myopia -- my prescription was around -15 in both eyes -- that I was completely nonfunctional without glasses or contact lenses. When my vision had deteriorated to the point that, even with these corrective devices I lacked the confidence to perform such tasks as driving, I started to carefully research the option of laser surgery. After all, as a book editor, my livelihood depends in my eyesight. After wearing glasses for 35 years, I am thrilled each and every day. There is always something that happens that reminds me how fortunate I am to now be able to see without the use of prescription lenses. I am still learning how to deal with minor situations where my eyes are no longer protected by thick lenses (e.g. getting spray in my eyes while washing the car).
